Open Letter to Senator McCain

Why should I donate any of my hard-earned money to Republican campaigns when the "Republican" selected to represent the party in the 2008 Presidential Election seems to have ruled out any real opposition to the Democrat Party's nominee, Barack Hussein Obama?

You have consistently refused to take on Senator Obama on matters of character, ideology, and you have barely scratched the surface of the debate on experience - complicating matters by choosing Sarah Palin (even though I think she's terrific) - a relatively inexperienced running mate. In fact, the selection of Palin seems to have been calculated simply to shut up and drag back into line the conservative base of the party - who had been threatening to bolt either to the Libertarian or Constitution Party candidates. In other words, Sir, you patronized us.

You have particularly refused to identify and pursue Senator Obama on his ties to Marxist and Communist individuals and ideologies - which are in direct conflict with the words and meaning of the United States Constitution. Those ties are no longer a matter of debate. They are concrete - and Senator Obama has never denied them.

You have consistently followed the flawed logic of former Vice President Gore in his "An Inconvenient Truth" documentary by conceding man-made global climate change when the true causes are not known - and when solar influence has been inappropriately discounted by the "consensus" of scientists who support Gore's views. You have even conceded the need to risk our national economy to address those issues by pursuing "Cap and Trade" policies. This, sir, is an abandonment of the conservative principles you were elected to support.

Barack Obama's ability to capture the imagination of the American People lies in his ability to evoke a vision - however wrong and undesireable for the future of the country - a vision of what he sees in the American future. YOU have consistently REFUSED to paint a picture the American People can see with you. We lost control in Congress in 2006 because all we ran on - instead of "that shining city on the hill" Reagan inspired us with - was the threat of Nancy Pelosi in the Speaker's office. You are running the 2008 Presidential race the same way - and WE ARE LOSING BECAUSE OF IT!

If your continued lack of OFFENSE in this race results in a landslide Obama victory, you will be - in conjunction with the imbecilic recent performance of President Bush - responsible for the destruction of the Republican Party You will be at least partially responsible for the rise of Marxism to the level of National Government in the United States - a prediction Nikita Khruschev made before you spent time in that Hanoi prison camp.

We need you to be a strong leader in this race - to PROVE you leadership qualifications. While we respect your time in the military - it doesn't count now! We don't need empty "maverick" rhetoric - we don't need false "my friends" patronism. We need you to be a LEADER. We want our children to grow up in America, not AMERIKA. WE NEED LEADERSHIP!

American Poverty - Blog Action Day '08 (10/15/08)

Ok - for the few who actually read my blog - I'm not gonna give you some bleeding heart thing about how we "have to do something" about poverty.

We live in the most economically privileged country in the world. While I acknowledge that there are scattered cases of true poverty in this nation - most of what is considered "poverty" is actually something far more insidious:

Consequences of Our Own Actions.

The reason I am not rich - the reason I have had to live, at times, at near minimum-wage - is because I have made poor decisions with money in my life.

The reason MOST Americans are not at least well-off, if not rich - is because MOST Americans have done the same thing.

When you refuse to take charge of your own life, waiting for someone else to give you "what you deserve" or to "give you a break" - you are condemning yourself to some level of poverty. Economic, moral, or spiritual - when you refuse self-reliance, you are POOR.

When you realize that no one OWES you anything in this country - that there is NO SUCH THING as the PROMISE OF AMERICA - but that everyone has the opportunity to be as big or as small as their own ambition and will to work can make them - then you shake off the bonds of poverty.

I'm not going to recite a long list of "wrong decisions" that lead Americans into poverty. Everyone that reads this has made choices with money that they regret. Everyone that reads this has made "bad decisions" that have cost them money - "stupid tax" is how I've heard that stated before.

Buying a car on payments is a "bad decision" that can make, or keep, you poor.

Doing business with a check-cashing company is a "bad decision" that can make, or keep, you poor.

Using credit cards to live a lifestyle higher than you can actually afford is a "bad decision" that can make, or keep, you poor.

Buying cigarettes, liquor, or drugs when you should be buying food or paying rent is a "bad decision" that WILL make, or keep, you poor.

We are all responsible for our own financial decisions. We must make better decisions with the money we already have - or we will continue to be the fools from whom our money is "soon parted".

We must make better decisions with our money so we can develop the ability to help those who are less fortunate. We ARE responsible for our neighbors - to a point. Abdicating that responsibility to the government because we are too immature to handle money well and therefore handle the responsibility ourselves is a disservice to our own communities.

We must make better decisions with our money - and we must TEACH our children to do the same. We were sold a "bill of goods" by the banks and credit companies - and by our political leaders - who said we can "have it all, and pay for it later" - they LIED! But WE are the ones who actually signed the credit applications, swiped the cards, walked out with merchandise on a "promise to pay" that we don't feel too awfully bad about breaking.

WE HAVE TO DO BETTER.

I'm debt-free as of last December. How are you doing?

Belief is an ACTION WORD!

(I posted this on another site on 7/19/08)

To believe in one's country - especially when that country is this grand and wonderful United States of America - is more than just something you can say in passing and then go about your daily business as if you hadn't said it.

Belief requires action:

Get up every morning and thank God (or whomever you believe in - Allah, lucky stars, whatever) that you were born in the land where the greatest opportunity to achieve your dreams exists.

Dare to dream! You've been given this wonderful opportunity - it's wasted if you don't DO SOMETHING WITH IT!!

Do something every day to work towards that dream!

Don't you dare let anyone else tell you "you can't do it" or "you're not good enough". In this country - if you work hard enough - and long enough - and treat people the right way while you're at it - you can be anything you want to be!

Be responsible! Do what is necessary, as a citizen, as a taxpayer, as a member of your family - especially as a member of your family.

FREEDOM is not defined as the absence of responsibility. FREEDOM is the reward for the exercise of responsible choices and behavior. BE RESPONSIBLE!

Don't expect others to take care of you. If you're able-bodied, able-minded - you have the obligation to take care of yourself - and any others that you bring into this world. DO IT! AND BE PROUD OF IT!

ACHIEVE! You have the obligation as an American to achieve! You do not have the right to sit on your butt and watch others do and expect them to do for you as well. Failing to try - failing to at least put out an honest effort - is a betrayal of the very LIBERTY you have been entrusted with.

We all have the right to succeed, and to reap the rewards of that success. No one has the right to take that away from us.

We all have the right to fail, to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and try again. But NO ONE has the responsibility to do it for us. When we fail, it is OUR JOB to get up - not the government's job.

STOP saying SOMEONE OUGHT TO DO SOMETHING.
DO SOMETHING!!!

I believe in the power of the individual to dream, to apply effort towards that dream, to fail in the effort if necessary, but to eventually succeed and fulfill that dream!

I DO NOT believe in the right of groups to usurp the individual's right to achieve!

I believe EXCUSEISM is the worst sort of cancer affecting this country. The willingness of her citizens to accept anything less than 100% effort from themselves and each other is a disease. STOP MAKING EXCUSES for why you CAN'T do it - START FINDING WAYS YOU CAN!!!

I believe the federal government's role should be to protect our nation from external enemies, and to prevent barriers to our individual success. Anything more than that is an overreach on the part of the Federal Government. GET OUT OF OUR WAY, WASHINGTON!!

I believe the American Citizen is the most gifted, most potentially powerful person on the planet. He or she has the opportunity and the right to achieve things most other citizens of the world cannot even imagine. We have the responsibility to live up to that opportunity - or we risk losing it. Every time we accept "good enough" when "GREAT" was possible, we risk losing it.

GO OUT THERE AND ACHIEVE!! IT'S YOUR BIRTHRIGHT! IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!
IT'S YOUR DESTINY!!!

Obama and Rev Wright

(I posted this blog entry on another site on 3/17/08)

Barack Obama has been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for over 20 years. He has also been a community leader for much of that time. He may even owe some of his success to his membership in this church.

When the senior pastor of a church preaches "non-christian" sermons like the ones Rev. Wright has preached, it is the responsibility of the church-members to address the issue with church leadership (deacons, elders, etc) to ensure the preacher is censured and brought back to his JOB - preaching the gospel of Christ.

If the elders take disciplinary action against the pastor and he does not correct his behavior - he should be dismissed. If the elders - in agreement with the pastor's errant message - do not take action; the churchmember should leave the church and find another church which is being run correctly.

Barack Obama took no action to correct Rev. Wright through the elders or on his own initiative - throughout the 20 years he has been a member.

We must assume:

1 He agrees with Rev. Wright on these controversial issues - or

2 He did not have the courage to take a stand against Rev. Wright and his preaching (until it became a political liability).

Either scenario disqualifies him (Obama) from the presidency.

I don't believe you can sit in a pew that long without taking action unless you believe the "gospel" the pastor is preaching. Especially when you're exposing your wife and children to the same nonsense.

A bit wordy, but you get my point, I hope.

BTW - I can think of a hundred reasons not to vote for Obama, and never get to skin color or religion.

As additional information, when interviewed last year by Sean Hannity, Rev Wright mentioned the works of Jim Cone Black Theology and Black Powerand Dwight Hopkins, who both teach something called "liberation theology" - the idea that God must serve the black cause, or blacks must abandon God. And that the "black cause" includes defeating and subjugating white people in the world. Rev Wright is an adherent to the principles Dr Cone and Dr Hopkins espouse.

Now this is astonishing to me - a person who has always tried to practiced Dr. King's philosophy of judging others by the content of their character. Knowing these facts makes me seriously doubt Barack's ability to govern a multicultural nation.

Addendum: As of this date, Barack Obama has resigned his membership in Trinity United Church of Christ. It is my humble opinion that his resignation - just like his membership - is more a matter of political expediency than a matter of Christian conscience. What else is he willing to do for the sake of "political expediency"? Does the man have any real Moral Backbone at all?

The Future under President Barack Hussein Obama

(I originally posted this on another site on 6/7/08)

When Barack Hussein Obama is inaugurated as President of the United States on January 20, 2009, He will be in a position of power unprecedented since the days of Lyndon B. Johnson. He will have been elected with a popular vote and popular support unrivaled since John F. Kennedy. The Fine Young Cannibals song “Cult of Personality” comes to mind.

The US Senate will have gained (according to projections) a 55-45 majority for Democrats. Added to a number of Republicans who are called “Rino” for their ease in supporting Democrat legislative causes, this could result in a Democratic supermajority of 60+ senators. Bottom line – no filibuster – no realistic dissent to Democratic legislative causes.

The US House will have gained (according to projections) a 242-193 majority for Democrats. Added to a number of “Rino” Republicans, dissent in the House to Democratic legislative causes could be scant.

The US Supreme Court will hold a 5-4 conservative advantage at inauguration. This means that the court could overrule Democratic constitutional challenges. However, should a single conservative Justice die, retire, become incapacitated, or otherwise be forced to step down, his replacement will likely be a liberal – and will face no real opposition in the confirmation process. The same will be true of all federal lower court appointments. Without a substantive opposition in Congress, Obama’s likely liberal appointments to lower courts will be carte blanche.

Added to this is the decidedly left-wing slant of the American Media Establishment. With the exception of one national news network and a variety of talk-radio personalities, the national media is entirely sold-out to Socialist policy and personality.

Imagine, if you will – a Marxist President, a decidedly Socialist Congress – with only token opposition from Republican Constitutionalists, and a Supreme Court (and lower courts) which have been staffed to support the Congress and President.

Now imagine a new version of “The Patriot Act” without the public and courtroom challenges. It will be focused on all dissent to the Obama programs and processes. Its targets will be Fox TV, Talk Radio, and the Republican Party.

At the courtroom, imagine the prosecutions of leaders of the current Iraq War with real and imagined war crimes. Imagine handing over President Bush, General Petraeus, and others to the Hague for prosecution at an International War Crimes Tribunal. And imagine the US press supporting all of this, and reporting dissent as “angry white men” and “warmongers” instead of as the patriots such dissenters would actually be.

Now, take this one step further. Imagine a natural disaster of overwhelming consequence, or a terror attack involving the use of nuclear or biological weapons. Whether the attack is by an external agent or by the “black hats” in our own government is immaterial. Imagine the press reporting that the attack was by an internal terror agent, and see our 2nd Amendment rights dry up. Then see blue-helmeted soldiers with asian features patrolling the streets of this nation to “keep the peace” while the government isolates dissenters and puts down any resistance to the stronger central authority.

Do you see where I’m going with this? All this can happen within the first 2 years of a Barack Obama presidency.
